【摘要】:ThispartofISO/IEC14478definesastandardsetofmultimediasystemservicesthatcanbeusedbymultimediaapplicationde-velopersinavarietyofcomputingenvironments.Thefocusisonenablingmultimediaapplicationsinaheterogeneous,distrib-utedcomputingenvironment.ThroughoutthispartofISO/IEC14478,thiscomponentwillalsobereferredtoas"MultimediaSystemsServices",andabbreviatedasMSS.TheMultimediaSystemsServicesconstitutesaframeworkof"middleware"—systemsoftwarecomponentslyingintheregionbetweenthegenericoperatingsystemandspecificapplications.Asmiddleware,theMultimediaSystemsServicesmarshalslow-er-levelsystemresourcestothetaskofsupportingmultimediaprocessing,providingasetofcommonserviceswhichcanbeusedbymultimediaapplicationdevelopers.TheMultimediaSystemsServicesencompassesthefollowingcharacteristics:a)provisionofanabstracttypeforamediaprocessingnode,extensiblethroughsubtypingtosupportabstractionsofreal,mediaprocessinghardwareorsoftware;b)provisionofanabstracttypeforthedataflowpathortheconnectionbetweenmediaprocessingnodes,encapsulating;low-levelconnectionandtransportsemantics;c)groupingofmultipleprocessingnodesandconnectionsintoasingleunitforpurposesofresourcereservationandstreamcontrol;d)provisionofamediadataflowabstraction,withsupportforavarietyofposition,timeand/orsynchronizationcapabili-ties;e)separationofthemediaformatabstractionsfromthedataflowabstraction;f)synchronousexceptionsandasynchronousevents;g)applicationvisiblecharacterizationofobjectcapabilities;h)registrationofobjectsinadistributedenvironmentbylocationandcapabilities;i)retrievalofobjectsinadistributedenvironmentbylocationandconstraints;j)definitionofaMediaStreamProtocoltosupportmediaindependenttransportandsynchronization.TheMultimediaSystemsServicesrelyontheobjectmodelofISO/IEC14478-1(FundamentalsofPREMO)andtheobjecttypesandnon-objectdatatypesdefinedinISO/IEC14478-2(PREMOFoundationComponent).
